The project involved constructing a new 700m2 state of the art dental implant surgery and luxury apartment over 3 storeys in an exclusive Belfast city centre location.

The surgery consists of an operating theatre, laboratory, two restorative suites, X ray room, photography, decontamination rooms, interview room and lecture area and a variety of back of house staff facilities.

The apartment consists of three bedrooms, two en-suite, bathroom, open plan kitchen, living dining with a roof garden accessed by bespoke aluminium sliding doors.

Parking and external landscaping includes full comms system serving electric gates, parking area, bin storage and a number of electric car charge points.

The design of the building replicates the vernacular of the original Victorian Semi Detached residences which line the Lisburn Road. This state of the art facility, while sympathetic to its surroundings on the outside, is packed with the latest dental and clinical facilities internally including lead lined X Ray rooms, a laboratory with specialist extract equipment to serve the milling machines and a lecture area which can screen the surgery undertaken in the operating theatre.

A suspended ceiling system enables easy access to the volume of ducts, air conditioning, data cables, compressed air and other bespoke services within the building.

Without prior experience constructing medical grade establishments Nickell & Richmond worked closely with the client and a number of specialists in the field to assist them in the co-ordination and installation of all the specialist equipment that was specified by the client.

This project was shortlisted in the commercial category on the Master Builder of the Year Awards 2017.
